Walker Kids Adventures | Hart Park | Bakersfield

The day was young when I arrived at the park, the light still kept to himself behind the nearby hills, and I strolled among trees as I waited for my clients who were soon to arrive. I let the sun take his time, I had all the time in the world really, I mean, I did get there an hour early to scope out the area, choosing the best places to photograph. But ah, the beckoning of the trees kept me for awhile, stealing me away for a bit; yes, how's life out here?

I can't help it sometimes.

And then my clients came; well, my friends came. I've known these people for quite some time, and it just so turned out that our scheduled aligned, sort of unexpectedly, and we were able to go on a shoot together. Such a special family they are, it was a joy.

Well, let me say, these kids are hilarious. We ran, and ran, and ran.... and ran. Kind of leaving the parents in the dust, we ducked and climbed over crooked wood fences, walked (well, more like skipped) down paths to the nearby river where they threw stones into the water, and eventually we made it to the light that crept through the trees where we danced in it's good morning to us. Oh, we also threw leaves. Because yeah, it's a must during this month.

*Special note* The Walker parents (who stayed true to their name and actually walked through the park) were also very kind in getting my bag for me when I forgot it in the middle of the park... What can I say, the trees were calling and the children run faster than me.

I know, excuses.

So, just a few photos of our adventures, of smiles and laughs and morning light; oh how it was fun.

I asked the kiddos to run at me as I also ran backwards with the camera, snapping away. It is surprising to me that I didn't bite it, but I guess I can accredit that to my acute practice in reversed blind running.

The light was basically unbelievable, but in the best way. I just had to have them frolic through the fields.

The progression of these photos is amazing.
